Baby presented clacking and fearful of humans. O: Performed intake exam. Attempted to take rads but baby was quite uncooperative. Gave oral meds and fluids. Placed in incubator on 90 to warm up. ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: BAR Temp (F): 101.9 Dehydration (%): 5 Heart rate: DNE Resp rate: DNE Neurologic: WNL Head/mouth/beak: Urates on beak - odorous Ears: NSF Eyes: OD NSF. OS possibly more cloudy, difficult to discern structures in back. Wings: L shoulder palpates a little lax. R wrist palpates abnormally, no crepitus or popping felt, feels like slight dorsal displacement of distal radius/ulna Legs: NSF Feet: RD4 held awkwardly at times, held up more cranially. Debris caked on feet, a little dirty. Body: Tiny scab on caudal keel, removed easily. Feather condition: In blood. Ectoparasites: None seen. Other: N/A Radiographic findings: Poor images, baby was squirming and stressed. Inconclusive. Possible fracture to very distal R radius shown on skyline. Initial treatment: 0.19cc meloxicam PO. 15cc LRS in L inguinal area. Placed in incubator on 90. A: Will need to reattempt radiographs tonight once bird has had some time to calm and rehydrate. Intake exam results presently inconclusive - bird appears to have some damage to R wrist and possibly L shoulder which may or may not be severe enough to keep in care. Otherwise bird seems like a great candidate for renesting and parents seem to have been attempting to care for it on the ground after falling. P: rx meloxicam and Ca slurry, fluids. 3/18 PM get better radiographs. 3/19 - collect fecal sample and blood sample. 3/20 - vet check. HF clean meat TID to start, transition to 1/2 clean tomorrow if processing well.
